In an attempt to escape all the madness, Vivi and I headed to the valleys of Los Yungas, just a few thousand meters below La Paz, and into Coroico, a sub-tropical community just three hours down the hill from La Paz.
We hit the tail end of the fiestas and still had to dodge some water balloons. However, we had some peace and quiet but also some unusually cold weather for the region. I suppose a cold front had settled just after we arrived.
Anyway, we hiked up the nearest hill where we had some pretty spectacular views of the town below, the surrounding area, and the snow-capped peaks high above.
