2006-07-14 - Sajama, Bolivia - Sajama
Gary, the director of Save the Children invited a few of us out to Sajama for a weekend visit.
It was great to get away from the city for a few days and the scenery was beautiful and very much reminiscent of the landscapes of the southwestern US. However, Sajama really stands out, being one of (if not THE) highest peaks in Bolivia, sticking out all by itself.
Gary, Seth, Betsy, Jackson, Fraser, Marie and I arrived at dusk, in time to see many of the spectacular views before dark.
We spent part of the following day hiking up to the base of the mountain, getting closer and closer to the snow; but turned back at the crest of the hill just before the land dips and rises once again, to the peak.
