2006-09-16 - La Paz, Bolivia - Illimani
Vivi came to visit in La Paz and we decided to take a little getaway to some tourist cabins just outside of La Paz.
The package looked good, with nice cabins, stunning views of Illimani, sauna, spa, massages, etc.
We paid for the tour in La Paz and took a taxi out to the cabins, about a 45 minute ride down the valley toward Illimani.
Just one problem. When we arrived to the cabins, there was noone there. Deserted. We hopped the fence, knocked on doors, went further up the road to the next village to ask, went back, asked another family, and finally found out that the groundskeeper was gone and there was no way to get in.
What the fuck? So these people sold us a tour and didn't even realize anyone was at their cabins?! This is a perfect example of Bolivian operation. They just cannot get things right. We were all a little disppointed, to say the least. Okay, we were fucking pissed! Including the taxi driver because I told him that the company had to pay the fare, not us.
We went back to the agency, told them what happened and, also in typical Bolivian fashion, got no sympathy, no apology, nothing from the dipshit working there. He just said it wasn't his problem, that he just worked there. At least he gave us our money back but I still felt like they owed us more because of time wasted and the fact that the completely fucked up. Oh well -- ni modo.
Anyway, here are some fotos of the place we were supposed to stay...
