Jason and I got an early start for our day at Machu Picchu. We wanted to get up there before the crowds poured in. From Aguas Calientes, it was an easy ride on a bus up to the ruins. Along the switchback road, the buses coming down come head-on towards the buses coming up on a single lane section. It appears that the driver with more machismo wins and the other driver backs up to a spot where they can pass. The highlight of this day was our hike up Wayna (meaning young) Picchu, the peak seen in every Machu Piccu picture as the backdrop to the ruins. We hiked all the up and then down and around. Afterwards, we met Mom and Dad for an official tour of MP.
